Upcoming Lunch & Learns

Last week, I had an extremely productive week, but I'm still struggling to attract new members for my group events.
So I've decided to increase the value of the membership by running lunch and learns every month, rather than once a quarter.
And I've already got the topics lined up for the next three events:
- June: Recycling and repurposing content for maximum reach (inc. how I make money from Medium by resharing posts written for this site)
- July: Is content marketing still worth the effort (and how can you do it more effectively)?
- Aug: Ask me anything about blogging (plus a free copy of my book, A-Z of Blogging, for all attendees)
These are going to be casual, friendly events. No PowerPoint presentations and nothing heavy-going. I'll share my experiences and advice on the topics, then we'll have a Q&A, plus a general chat about the subject (or anything else marketing-related).
These events are included in my monthly membership, which is £20 per month or £200 for the year. That membership also includes monthly co-working sessions, where you can get support with your marketing and dedicate time to creating content.

My membership is small in number, but big on value
None of the events I've hosted (past or present) have attracted huge numbers, and I'm pleased about that. It means they are not overwhelming, cliquey, or impersonal like some of the big community groups and membership programmes on offer.
Of course I'd love the money that comes with having thousands of members. But I'm happier earning less if it means I can give more value.
I don't want my members to feel like they are paying just to be part of the in-crowd. Or to get frustrated because they never get a chance to ask a question or get what they need from the event. Or to feel as though I only care about getting money out of them and selling them more stuff.
I've hosted events where only one or two people have turned up, and I'm fine with that. It means I can give a more personal service, and attendees feel less daunted about asking questions and getting what they need from me.
So even as my member numbers get bigger, I'll keep the events relatively small (I'll just add more dates) because I prefer them that way.
And if smaller events suit you too, then I'd love to have you at mine.
In case you missed it
Last Wednesday's post was all about the importance of self-care as a freelancer. You'll always find links to my recent posts at the bottom of these emails (after the ten-minute task and anagrams). However, self-care is so important, I wanted to bump this one up in case you never scroll down that far.
